Web Integration. By enabling dynamic data access to web clients without programming, VEIS Enterprise Edition is one solution for the internet, intranet and the enterprise.

The client can deploy VEIS Enterprise Edition across most popular operating systems, access numerous databases, choose his own web server and even integrate with custom applications, It is an open platform that scales across the enterprise and provides a common toolset for deployment wherever and whenever appropriate.

VEIS Enterprise Edition utilizes a multi-tiered architecture for maximum flexibility. The web server, VEIS Enterprise Edition server and database servers can all reside on different platforms. Complex calculations can be partitioned to run on the best-suited platform. Additional distributed processing options are available through a CORBA interface and a Gemstone object database.

Platform support includes Windows NT, Windows '95, OS/2, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, HP UX, DEC alpha and others. Web server support includes Netscape 9NSAOI or CGI), Microsoft (ISAPI or CGI), IBM, Oracle and other CGI compliant servers. Web template files similar to Microsoft IDC files and compatible with DB2 WWW Connection are supported. These files contain both HTML and data access commands. Unlike other tools, VEIS Enterprise Edition can include data from multiple data sources ranging from relational SQL databases, files, CORBA and even object databases.

In addition to its ability to scale, access numerous databases, deploy across popular operating systems, integrate with custom applications and generate HTML, VEIS Enterprise Edition includes ad hoc data reporting, querying, update and other Java applets provided as part of the full featured Query By Example (QBE) and Report By Example (RBE) tools. Web users can create new reports, perform ad hoc queries and run predefined reports, all from a web browser. Java instruction is included for developers to create their own applications, including report running and result viewing.

Standard compliant interfaces supported include HTML, Java, CORBA 2.0, IIOP, SMTP, MIME, POP3, IMAP4 and FTP. In addition, integration with web servers are supported through CGI, NSAPI and ISAPI interfaces. Presentation formats include HTML 2.0, HTML 3.0, Adobe Acrobat, Rich Text Format and Postscript. A Java report viewed widget is also available.

VEIS Enterprise Edition promotes dynamic information access for the enterprise by dynamically creating Web pages from reports, queries, and other reporting components. Parameters can be supplied from enterprise web pages to drive data retrieval and formatting. Web pages can even include drill down hyperlinks to other reports or queries. As a result, the web pages are not static presentations but interactive, live documents.

VEIS Enterprise Edition facilitates maximum developer flexibility by providing a powerful toolset for defining reports. MIS and end users can collaborate to define new reports using a shared repository. This sharing resolves configuration management issues before they arise and the problems of multiple toolsets which have to be kept synchronized.

VEIS Enterprise Edition web support is integrated with the VEIS Enterprise Edition Server. The latter provides a powerful set of batch reporting, scheduling and electronic distribution functions. Reports and queries can be run from a web browser and the results electronically distributed. Common reports can be scheduled to run during off-peak hours and formatted into HTML documents ready for viewing.
